Abigail Bakan's research is in the area of anti-oppression politics, with a focus on intersections of gender, race, class, political economy and citizenship. She is currently engaged with three research projects: (i) theoretical reflections on gender, race and class; (ii) theorizing anti-racism (with Enakshi Dua, York University); and (iii) debating racism and framing anti-racism through a close study of the United Nations World Conferences Against Racism (WCAR) process, supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) (with Yasmeen Abu-Laban, University of Alberta).
