 "At the 12th Annual Conference of Barbadian Association in Canada, was held in Montreal in 1983. The Barbados (Ottawa) Association was given the mandate to organizae the 13th Conference in Ottawa with the following objectives:

Explore widening the scope of the conference
 Establish a formal structure for the creation of the National Council for Barbadian Associations of Canada
 The general aims of the National Conference were:

Discuss the role of Caribbean Canadians, as members of the visible minority community, attempting to interact within the wider Canadian society.
 Sensitize members of the various levels of government, industry, and general public to the issues, needs, and problems facing the Caribbean community
Identify strategies for various groups
 Improve and develop relationships with other ethno-cultural and community groups
 Lay the groundwork for some type of informal monitoring system.

"Lors de la douzième conférence annuelle de la Barbadian Association au Canada, s’est tenue à Montréal en 1983. L’association Barbados (Ottawa) a été chargée d’organiser la treizième conférence à Ottawa avec les objectifs suivants:

Explorer l'élargissement de la portée de la conférence
Établir une structure formelle pour la création du Conseil national des associations de la Barbade du Canada
Les objectifs généraux de la conférence nationale étaient les suivants:

Discutez du rôle des Canadiens des Caraïbes, en tant que membres de la minorité visible, qui tentent d’interagir au sein de la société canadienne au sens large.
Sensibiliser les membres des différents niveaux de gouvernement, l'industrie et le grand public aux problèmes, besoins et problèmes de la communauté des Caraïbes
Identifier des stratégies pour différents groupes
Améliorer et développer les relations avec d'autres groupes ethnoculturels et communautaires
Jeter les bases d'un système de suivi informel.
