This report consists of the Economic Council's research on immigration, specifically in regards to the economic and social impact of immigration in Canada.
The report begins with an overview of the history of immigration and economic development in Canada. In this section, the report considers the effect of immigration on the tax burden and unemployment.
The second main section of this report deals with scenarios for the future and considers:
1) the economic performance of immigrants and refugees,
2) prejudice and tolerance in Canada, and
3) Diversity and Multiculturalism.
The conclusion of this report is that immigration benefits everyone, and is limited only by the intolerance and prejudice which exists in Canadian society.
Ce rapport est constitué des recherches du Conseil économique sur l'immigration, en particulier en ce qui concerne l'impact économique et social de l'immigration au Canada.
Le rapport commence par un aperçu de l'histoire de l'immigration et du développement économique au Canada. Dans cette section, le rapport examine l’effet de l’immigration sur le fardeau fiscal et le chômage.
La deuxième partie de ce rapport traite de scénarios pour l’avenir et examine:
1) la performance économique des immigrants et des réfugiés,
2) préjugés et tolérance au Canada, et
3) Diversité et multiculturalisme.
La conclusion de ce rapport est que l'immigration profite à tous et n'est limitée que par l'intolérance et les préjugés existant dans la société canadienne.
