This is the true story of a Canadian, whose journey reaches out to all our hearts. Benno and Heinz, two brothers who are nine and thirteen, respectively, were put on a train departing Nazi Germany, in January 1939. Their parents were in a desperate bid to relocate them to a safe location. From Berlin to Amsterdam to London and, finally, to Toronto, Benno recalls his traumatic journey, as he makes his way across the continent during the war.

C’est la véritable histoire d’un Canadien dont le parcours touche tous nos cœurs. Benno et Heinz, deux frères âgés respectivement de neuf et treize ans, ont été embarqués dans un train quittant l'Allemagne nazie en janvier 1939. Leurs parents cherchaient désespérément à les réinstaller dans un endroit sûr. De Berlin à Amsterdam, en passant par Londres, et enfin Toronto, Benno se souvient de son parcours traumatique alors qu'il traversait le continent pendant la guerre.
