In this chapter book memoir, Larry Loyie relates his own experience attending residential school and his subsequent struggle with going home a stranger. He describes his adventures entering the working world and at last living his dream of living in the mountains. The story explores from a child's perspective the harsh conditions of residential schools and the friendships that made it possible to survive them. A brief history of residential schools in Canada is given in the epilogue. The book is co-written with Constance Brissenden.

Dans ce mémoire de chapitre, Larry Loyie raconte sa propre expérience au pensionnat et sa lutte subséquente pour rentrer chez lui comme un étranger. Il décrit ses aventures entrant dans le monde du travail et réalisant enfin son rêve de vivre dans les montagnes. L'histoire explore, du point de vue de l'enfant, les dures conditions des pensionnats et les amitiés qui ont permis de leur survivre. Un bref historique des pensionnats au Canada est présenté dans l'épilogue. Le livre est co-écrit avec Constance Brissenden. (En anglais seulement)
