Tahir Aslam Gora is a writer, novelist, commentator, poet, journalist, editor, translator, and publisher. Tahir is also the CEO & Director General, Canadian Thinkers’ Forum, and Secretary General, the Coalition of Progressive Canadian Muslim Organizations.
As a regular contributor to newspapers and online publications on the topic of Islamic issues, Tahir has gained recognition as a bold social activist who brings Muslim communities together to support progressive Canadian ideas and actions. Tahir has initiated many Canadian interfaith and pluralistic initiatives.
In addition, he is a regular contributor to the Huffington Post, and is the author of two novels, Mohlat and Trevogi Nadegi; three collections of short stories, including Safar Akher Safar Hey; and three collections of poems, including Yeh Udassi Ki Baat Nahein and This is not a Matter of Sorrow. His work has been translated and published in Russian, Uzbek and Hindi.
Active in several literary and cultural organizations in Pakistan, Tahir was a noted critic of religious intolerance in that country. He set out the foundation of a political party in Pakistan, called Awami Welfare Party. He is currently at work on two manuscripts; one about Islam, the other titled Understanding Canadian Multiculturalism.
Recently, he founded TAG TV Studio – its broadcasts can be viewed online and through Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) Networks.
