TORONTO, March 20, 2017 /CNW/ - The Canadian Race Relations Foundation (CRRF) is once again bringing together the university community from coast to coast on March 21st to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
The CRRF's annual Canada Lecture on Campus is a cross-country live-broadcast featuring three presentations from academics from the University of British Columbia and the University of Toronto. It is the culmination of the CRRF’s Canada Lecture which took place on February 7th at University of Toronto’s Hart House.
Both these events are part of the CRRF's ongoing commitment to raise awareness and understanding of critical issues related to racial discrimination, and to develop approaches to harmonious race relations.
“The Canada Lecture on Campus is just one way the CRRF engages students and young Canadians on the state of racial discrimination in Canada” said Anita Bromberg, Executive Director, CRRF. “The theme for this year’s event is timely considering recent events and the alarming rise in incidents of racism seen in communities and university campuses across the country.”
The presentations, which will publicly available via live stream, will be accessible in both official languages and focus on the theme of Building Bridges: Youth Contributions to Promote Cultural Openness, Dialogue and Racial Equity. The lectures will be followed by live discussions that will convene students and faculty from all three universities, as well as members of the general public.
The CRRF welcomes all those interested to join our livestream on Tuesday March 21st, 2017 between 12p.m. to 3p.m. EST to take part in the conversation. You can register for this free event by visiting the registration page and signing up!
Following the Canada Lecture on Campus, students will have the opportunity to submit papers on the topics discussed at the event, which will be published in the CRRF's December 2017 edition of its academic journal, Directions.
