Nominations Open For CRRF'S Award Of Excellence 2005
The Youth category will be adjudicated earlier (closing date for entries February 8, 2005) to facilitate the invitation of the top finalists to the conference arranged by the National Youth Anti-Racism Network in Calgary March 18-20, 2005. Individual youth (age 15-29) or unaffiliated youth organizations can nominate a best practice. The closing date for all other categories will be April 8, 2005.
The Award of Excellence program was created to recognize best practices in antiracism by organizations and individuals and is presented every two years. Adjudicated by an independent group of well-respected antiracism and human rights activists, the 2005 presentation will be the fourth, and will be presented at the Award of Excellence Gala scheduled for October 20, 2005 in Toronto. The winners and the top runners-up share a cash prize of $20,000. Past winners include the Ryerson Journalism School, Ville St. Laurent and The Media Awareness Network
"Over the years has been quite remarkable to see not only the growth in the number of entries, but also the increasing quality of the submissions," said Dr, Karen Mock, the CRRF's Executive Director. "Clearly the message that racism is not acceptable is getting through. But more importantly our Award of Excellence honour those who want to, and are, doing something about it."
