In the policy document, Securing an Open Society: Canada's National Security Policy, tabled this morning by the Deputy Prime Minister, Anne McLellan, the Federal Government will create the roundtable - to engage in a long-term dialogue to improve understanding on how to manage security interests in a diverse society and will provide advice to promote the protection of civil order, mutual respect and common understanding.
"We commend the government for undertaking this partnership with communities. It is important that all voices are heard and the Foundation has offered its assistance to the government in ensuring that it happens" said Dr. Karen Mock, Executive Director of the Foundation, after a pre-tabling briefing for communities.
