Albert Lo, Chairperson of CRRF, stated, "Matters such as house pricing deserve to be discussed. However, targeting specific groups will certainly not help. Rather, we must have an honest and respectful dialogue on the issues involved. We must not let the racists set the agenda on important issues such as housing or immigration while they directly attack core Canadian values of mutual respect and diversity."
Rubin Friedman, Board member and spokesperson for CRRF, noted, "Clearly the offensive messages on the benches should be investigated as hate crimes. Such behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Our surveys, including our recent Survey on Religion, Racism and Intergroup Relations in Canada, confirm that Canadians are concerned about the presence of racism and anti-immigrant sentiments and want action to counter these.
