Director, Grants & Community Initiatives, Vancouver Foundation
Vi has spent the majority of her career working with newcomer and Aboriginal youth and families in community development settings with Vancouver Parks Board, City of Vancouver, Pacific Community Resources’ Broadway Youth Resource Centre and the United Nations International Labour Organization. She is grateful to be able to continue working alongside communities of racialized young people and families towards social justice and systemic change, particularly at Vancouver Foundation, where she has worked since 2007. Vi has worked across a variety of granting portfolios at Vancouver Foundation which have included Children, Youth & Families; Youth Philanthropy; Education, Youth Homelessness Initiative, Environment and Arts & Culture. She is currently overseeing the Fresh Voices Initiative, working to engage immigrant and refugee youth in shaping policies and programs that affect their participation and sense of belonging in B.C. Vi holds an M.A from the School of Child & Youth Care at the University of Victoria and recently entered a new youth-ish chapter of her life when she became one half of a parenting unit to an "assertive" 3 year old and a "strong-willed" 3 month old.
