Dr. Taima Moeke-Pickering is the Director of the School of Indigenous Relations at Laurentian University. There are two programs within this school: the Honours Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work (ISWK) and the Master of Indigenous Relations (MIR). The vision and content for both programs were endorsed by Aboriginal communities and faculty. The MIR program embraces Indigenous worldviews, theory, research and practice from a global and Canadian perspective. All the content is Indigenous-based. The program critiques the legacy of colonialism and examines relevant decolonization and Aboriginal self-determination frameworks, as well as international Indigenous issues. Currently, there are eight MIR students who have completed their course work and are now working on their theses.
