Marina Jimenez was an award-winning journalist for more than two decades. She has worked for the National Post and the Globe and Mail, most recently as an editorial writer. She has specialized in immigration issues and foreign reporting, and has covered stories throughout Latin America and in Iraq, Vietnam, the Philippines, Pakistan and other parts of the world.
Ms. Jimenez has received four National Newspaper Award citations and won two gold National Magazine Awards. In 2009-2010, she was the St. Clair Balfour Fellow at Massey College, University of Toronto. She also served as an adjunct professor at the University of Toronto from 2008-2011, teaching immigration issues to journalism students.
In 2013, she left journalism and took up the role of president of the Canadian Council for the Americas for one year. She now works as a communications consultant and writer. Ms. Jimenez is the senior researcher and writer for the CRRF Report on Canadian Values.
