Minorities and the Media. A Content Analysis of the Treatment of Indians, Eskimos and Jews in Two Ontario Newspapers examines how Aboriginal people, Jews and Blacks are portrayed in two Ontario newspapers, the Nicetown News and Bigtown News . Published in 1977, this comprehensive report scans the years 1971 to 1975 for each of the newspapers, looking at how their articles portrayed the three groups. These groups were described as a social problem. In the reporting it was discovered that there is more frequent persecution of certain groups, instead of evoking sympathy through the report and that the groups are ‘to blame’ for the situation they find themselves in.
