TORONTO, January 20, 2017 /CNW/ – The Canadian Race Relations Foundation (CRRF) announces the launch of an exciting interactive video series “Canadian Conversations” to mark the 3rd annual Lincoln Alexander Day on January 21st.
As we celebrate Canada’s 150th year, what is the one message you would like to share with your fellow Canadians? The Canadian Race Relations Foundation (CRRF) is asking the public to answer this question, as part of its new interactive video series.
“The Honourable Lincoln Alexander, who had achieved many firsts, including being the inaugural chair of the CRRF, and the first Black Member of the House of Commons, dedicated his life to the advancement of race relations and eliminating barriers due to racism,” said Albert Lo, Chairperson, CRRF. “As set out in his story “A Man of Respect ” that launched our 150 Story initiative, he remains a shining example of how one person – through a lifetime of hard work, integrity and a commitment to justice – can help shape the values of an entire country in a positive way”.
Anita Bromberg, Executive Director added “Canadian Conversations is an opportunity for Canadians to join with us to continue his legacy. Having a better understanding of the lived experiences of Canadians will allow us to continue to work towards a more inclusive society based on shared values of mutual respect and compassion as the Honorable Lincoln Alexander envisioned.”
Canadians throughout the country will be able to tell their stories as they relate to specific questions, which will be posted on the CRRF’s website each month and compiled into a series of videos. Individuals across the country will have a platform to share their idea of what it means to be Canadian.
The CRRF has already produced two videos, where Canadians have shared their stories focusing on the first time they felt truly Canadian, and their proudest moments as Canadians.Click here to view the videos .
